Shall we dance?

I've been dancing since I was still a kid. I have traditional dance as my basic, and along the way, I learned about modern dance as well. If I had to choose, I'd choose contemporary dance, where both traditional and modern dance is combined. If you were to ask me if dancing is difficult or not, I'd say no. Nothing is ever difficult if you want to try. The word 'try' is really important if you want to learn about dancing. Any kind of dance. Because from what I learn, dancing takes all your energy and focus. You have to be professional for yourself. If the guts of learning doesn't come from you, I don't think dancing is going to be easy. I really want to say that dancing is not for the weak. But maybe that's just my point of view. I'm a perfectionist myself, so most of the time when I get a new move, I work really hard to make sure I do it right. And that's the beauty in dancing. Especially when you dance in group. The photos here were taken at one of my university's art event where each art group from each social faculty presents their best performance; and I was a part of it, so I'm really honored. I was dancing with three of my seniors who have been dancing for numerous times, so the pressure was quite high because I had to keep up with their speed, tempo, power, and not to mention the harmony of the dance itself.

At first I was dancing to lose some weight, because I think it's the only sport I enjoy doing that really burns my energy. But after several public performance dancing for my art group, I learn that dancing is so much more than that; so much more than losing some of your weight. It's a way of expressing yourself. Like dressing up, the way you dance can say so much about you. So dance well.

What about you? What do you enjoy doing to express yourself? :)
